Pecan is a community development charity that has been running in the area for over 25 years. It was set up by a group of 6 Churches in 1989 gathering to discuss social action in the area Over the past 25 years, they have helped over 27,000 clients through their programs. Current projects that they run include Southwark Foodbank, Family works (a support project for unemployed families) Moving on, a project supporting women caught in the criminal justice system; and Empower a free employment service for Southwark residents.
the Foodbank always needs people to help volunteer with them a morning a week and to help fundraise for them. (the Foodbank is a store of non perishable food donated by the local community to be distributed to people in food crisis. Clients are referred by partner organisations and professionals such as schools, GP, Social Services, Refugee Agencies. Clients receive a voucher which is then exchanged for food by volunteers at the foodbank) – if you think you want to get involved email firstname.lastname@example.org
Pecan also has a need for volunteer receptionists and finance and Admin support; as well as people to help with fundraising.
